After taking over Kuhn & Company from his father more than 50 years ago, Alex quickly put his own stamp on the business. During his leadership, Kuhn & Company grew from humble beginnings into the full-service accounting and privately-held business advisory firm that it is today. The personal and business relationships that were developed during this time and the culture that Alex cultivated are the reasons that so many of our clients have become long-term partners. Alex likes to remind everyone that we have one client that has been with us since our inception in 1926. Although he has scaled back on work over the last few years, Alex still remains involved, serving in advisory capacities and fulfilling trustee duties. Alex spends his free time with his wife of 60 years, Shirley, six kids, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His role as the Kuhn family patriarch seems to expand every day as new great grandchildren join the family.
This year marks Steve's 40th at Kuhn & Company and in his own words what has been the key to that longevity, "I have been priviledged to work with and for some amazing people. The spirit and determination I see in our clients is inspiring. Witnessing them succeed, and hopefully we were an integral part of it, is what has kept me coming to the office all these years." Steve graduated from Western Illinois University in 1976 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and is a licensed CPA in the State of Illinois. He oversees Kuhn & Company's assurance practice and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Illinois CPA Society. Outside of the office Steve is kept busy by his wife, Debra and his three grandchildren.
After graduating with a B.S. in Accounting from University of Texas at Austin in 1986 and earning his CPA designation in 1987, Jim joined his father and brother at Kuhn & Company. Now, with 30+ years in the business, his public accounting experience includes managing attestation engagements for privately-held businesses, developing tax saving strategies, and consulting on a wide array of business issues such as business succession, feasibility studies, process reengineering, and accounting systems. On a daily basis, Jim draws on his extensive expertise to achieve his ultimate goal – helping his clients attain peace of mind. Another critical part of Jim’s role entails overseeing hiring and development. In his words, “Just as gratifying as client peace of mind is seeing a staff member experience the same gratification from something he or she has done to positively impact a client’s life.” Outside the office, Jim enjoys snowboarding with his three daughters and putzing in the woodshop executing the perfect dovetail joint.
